When new homes go on the market, overly-cautious sellers routinely whitewash over their homes’ personalities with neutral décor, leaving a blank canvas on which to create a new masterpiece. Fortunately for new owners, Warrenton is home to several design artists who can help fill that blank canvas….Ruby Tannehill recently opened The Cotton House using a decade of design experience with a large design firm to work one-on-one with local residents. Dedicated fabric stores are few and far between in this day and age. Besides large design companies in big cities, there aren’t many places that allow consumers to choose their own fabrics and customize them for upholstery, drapery and bedding. Ruby Tannehill and her daughter-in-law, Pia Ehn-Hardy, decided to open a store that could cater to home-owners’ desire for high-quality textiles. The two opened the Cotton House at 31 W. Lee Hwy in Warrenton about a month ago. Tannehill says that with her industry contacts she can provide exceptional products for affordable prices.
WARRENTON, VA – November 10, 2014 – The Cotton House offers services for drapery, bedding, pillows, sumptuous fabrics, furniture, re-upholstery and custom home décor. We are excited to offer a beautifully lit private room for designers & clients to bring home décor visions to life!
The store is owned and operated by Ruby Tannehill & her daughter-in-law Pia Hardy. Ruby is the creative force behind the Cotton House, creating custom one-of-a-kind soft goods by hand. Ruby began sewing many years ago for her own home and for her family and friends. Ruby moved here to Virginia, from SC about ten years ago and found work at a local fabric store. She began sewing in the work room making custom one-of-a-kind pieces, (pillows, drapes, bedding, etc.) and learning about the business. She not only sews the pieces by hand, she also acts as designer for many of her clients as well. She possesses the innate ability to bring fabrics together to create the home décor your dreams. Finally, the time was right, so she and her daughter–in-law decided to open the business.
They felt that there was a need to offer high quality custom drapery, bedding, reupholstering and beautiful home goods at a fair price. They are also joined by Ruby’s daughter Cherie Tannehill, together, they bring years of outstanding customer service, fabric and design experience.
The Cotton House is located at 37 West Lee Hwy, Warrenton, VA; in the Wayland Corner Center next to the Sheetz gas station.
We are currently open for business, our store hours are: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm or by appointment.
